hey so Los Angeles is in crisis right now.

Multiple concurrent wildfires are happening, two of which are extremely devastating. The Palisades Fire, which at this time is the deadliest wildfire in LA history, has burned 18 square miles worth of land and destroyed over 1,000 structures. The Eaton Fire has burned over 10,000 acres. And the Santa Ana winds are rapidly escalating the fires to where containment at this time is borderline nonexistent and firefighters are at a loss for what to do. People have died. The air is extremely hard to breathe from smoke. Elderly, disabled and transient populations are at great risk. Even 20 miles south and 30 miles west of the Palisades and Eaton Fires, the smoke is so bad that there are air quality alerts and the moon is red at night. These have been called “catastrophic urban firestorms” and the people affected need your compassion.

If you are directly affected by the Eaton or Palisades Fires, here is a list of safe evacuation centers:

It's fun when you can tell things about people by what colours they like to surround themselves with. Someone who likes wearing and decorating all their stuff with green is usually a calm, chill, down to earth kind of a person. They don't usually even notice how much of all their things are green, they just see a green thing and think "oh, pretty" and don't even put together just how much of their stuff ends up unintentionally being green.

Someone whose clothes and stuff are predominantly purple is something else, that's a Distinct Kind Of Personality who enjoys having a distinct colour scheme and goes out of their way to get it. Purple is too unusual of a colour to just accumulate unintentionally. A person whose belongings are mainly purple enjoys knowing that the people who know them probably first think "oh, That Person would probably like that" whenever they see something purple.

But someone who specifically enjoys the combination of purple and green? Yeah that's a harder than average herb wizard.

They're both gorgeous, obviously, but Étienne is a man who actually likes women and sees his love interest as a real person (hawk), rather than a guy who mansplains jousting. He also (like Adhemar) has strong bi energy and (unlike Adhemar) a sense of humor. I adore him, and the scene where he has lifted Isabeau off the floor and she is laughing in his arms while running her fingers through his hair? Rent-free. Rent-free.

I managed to get art done for my family for christmas, but this one is honestly the one I'm the most absolutely proudest of. I finished it and then couldn't stop looking at it lol. I am Entranced by the stars.

I feel like maybe I'm not the most amazing artist in the whole world, but I did something I wanted to do ever since I was a little kid obsessed with Illusion of Gaia. Between Dark Space and Freedan, with his swooshy cape and hair, I just. always wanted to make a drawing that did him justice. And now I feel like I have.

I also took a little inspiration from the hatching of Berserk, bc I felt like it needed Something Extra as I finished up the inks, and I feel like that worked really well too even though it was the first time I actually did that and it was on a whim. I really just... am very proud of myself on this one and I want it to be something others see and are equally entranced by even if they have no idea what Illusion of Gaia is.

(My dad didn't know either, bc it's been like 20 years since he's thought of that game haha, his brain is full of Zelda. but I always associate him with Secret of Mana and Illusion of Gaia, since he was the only person when I was a kid who knew about those games as the one who had bought them for himself. It means everything to me.)

I used both copics and prismacolor pencils for the coloring. I really need to refill a lot of my copic blue markers lmao...

The ask was deleted but someone anonymously told me that Gengeal is technically incest because Genesis is technically "related" to Gillian. which. um. what?

There is a massive difference between being The Genetic Child Birthed From A Woman, versus being a baby that was unwillingly and unknowingly injected with the cells of an unrelated person.

Genesis and Angeal were different tests. Angeal was born from Gillian, Genesis was born from different parents but was injected with Gillian's cells. Because that's how science works. You do different versions of the experiments to see which one works. And both failed.

Besides, knowing how Square Enix writes, if they even were, technically, distantly related, WE WOULD'VE KNOWN. In the game's dialogue they strictly refer to each other as "partner" and "friend." and even if they wouldn't say it in game, an official book or description of some kind would mention that they're related. Which as far as I'm aware, there isn't any book that OFFICIALLY states that they're brothers.

I'm not going to argue on this further but if you genuinely believe that Gengeal is incest just to discourage/hate on the ship for no reason, then please leave <3

Also, incest as a taboo has three major reasons:

1. Social and cultural norms coming from being raised as siblings and developing an inappropriate attachment towards them.
2. Possible biological outcome in offspring.
3. Possible abuse coming from power imbalance dynamics.

• Genesis and Angeal were not raised as brothers.
• Genesis and Angeal can't have biological children.
• Genesis and Angeal are basically peers.

None of the legitimate stands against incest apply to them, even if they were half-siblings. That would be a case of harmless and completely unaware horizontal incest (and in my honest opinion it would only add to Angeal's emotional turmoil that lead to his death).

But this is not canon. What's canon is an actual case of gay incest in Dirge of Cerberus that most people have no problem with (I personally dislike Nero and Weiss, but whatever tickles the shippers' fancy, I guess). What's canon is a diffuse hate for Angeal's complexity and queer coding that defeats the stereotype of your average anime gay boy.

Social and cultural norms change drastically in different cultures: Europeans died laughing when USAmericans found out in shock Elizabeth II and Prince Philip were distant cousins. So, as an European, I still die laughing when USAmericans (never saw that coming from non-USAmericans, but that's my experience) believe having someone else's cells and shagging them makes it incest: that would make incest having sex with someone you donated your kidney to. Or with someone you passed a bacterial infection to.
